Shooting Star, is an interactive platform to bring together creative minds.

As the name suggests ‘Shooting Star’ is an event to celebrate talent within young creatives.
Flying Saucer collaborates with Yahoo! to launch an exciting new competition for fresh new creatives from within the advertising agencies or any working professional in India under 28 years of age. Please note that you could be in any job in any part of India, if you are under 28 years, you can apply. You can submit a maximum of 3 scripts. Not necessarily as a campaign. All three ideas can be different since we have to choose only one piece of creative.
“Looking back at my own career, I started as a junior copywriter. I was most interested in writing films and daily churned out so many ideas for different brands. Sometimes for existing ones and sometimes for made up brands. I was convinced that if any of those daring, bold films were made, I would definitely be noticed, even win awards. This competition would provide young writers with an opportunity to write an ad film on a real brief. The ad film would be produced by Flying Saucer for Yahoo!
No need to do ‘Patli Gali’ anymore. If you believe in your talent and are charged enough to churn out crazy ideas then read the brief given by Yahoo! and send us your script.
The winning script would be produced by Flying Saucer with one of the directors on their panel.
What’s more Shooting Star would sponsor a single entry of the film on behalf of the writer for the next year’s Cannes!

Who Can Enter?
• Agency creatives or professionals working in any company in any position under 28 years.
• The competition is open to all Indian and foreign nationals, currently working in an Indian Ad agency or in any other company    in India.
• Entrants must hold rights of their original work.
Agency creatives
• An individual from any department within the agency at a level, junior to a creative director may apply.
Working Professionals
• The participant should be professionally occupied (salaried, consultant or freelance) with any company (Indian or MNC) based    in India.
Application Submission:
• Online Applications must be filled by 31st January 2013.
Script Submission:
• The script submitted should be according to the brief given. Click here to download brief .
• The script should be written in English. In case of Hindi dialogues, use Roman characters.
• Script to be submitted ONLY in ‘PDF’ format.
• The script should be given an adequate ‘Title’ by the entrant.
• The entry should include: a Script (not more than 2 A4 sheets), name of the entrant, contact number, email id, copy of office ID     and age proof.
• The jury’s decision will be final and binding.
NOTE: The copyrights of the awarded scripts will be with Yahoo and Flying Saucer.
• The winning script will be produced by Flying Saucer on behalf of Yahoo as an ‘Ad film’.
• The film made will be sent to Cannes 2013 on behalf of the writer.*
• The runners up entry will be awarded an IPod.
*The writer needs to provide necessary paper work from his end to facilitate this entry. Failing this their film will not be sent to Cannes.

Terms & Condition:

  • Any incomplete/inaccurate entries or entry sent after the Entry Period shall be invalid.
  • The right to permit or restrict participation is at the sole discretion of Yahoo and Flying saucer.
  • Shooting Star and Yahoo will not hold the rights to the scripts of the non-selected entries.
  • The Intellectual property rights of the non-selected entries will be with the writer of the script.
  • Shooting Star Management through Yahoo has the right to substantiate/audit/verify the participants’ details/information as provided in the entry form or Shooting Star Management may seek any further document, as may be required to verify the participants’ details/ information. The participant must provide all supporting details requested by the Shooting Star Management. If such a request is made and the participant either fails or does not agree to provide the same, then the Shooting Star Management reserves the right to disqualify the participant from participation for the Award.
  • Determination of whether information is correct or not, rests with Yahoo and Shooting Star.
  • If at any time, any information provided by any participant is found to be incorrect in any manner, then the participant will be disqualified.
  • If, after the conclusion, any information provided by any participant is found to be incorrect in any manner, the participant will be liable to return the Award and any monetary / non-monetary incentives provided as part of the Award.
  • We assume that the piece of work is an original piece.
  • We assume that you have copyright permission, in case of any copyrighted material is used.
  • We assume you have the permission of the employer to enter this competition
  • We assume you are 28 years of age or younger, failing which your entry will be disqualified.
  • We assume you are employed in an advertising agency in India, failing which you will be disqualified.
  • Shooting Star Management shall not be liable for any loss, damage, theft, or any other mishap caused to the Prize after handing over the same to the winners of the competition.
  • The Winner or his/her legal heirs shall have no other rights or claims whatsoever against Shooting Star Management.
  • Entries protected under intellectual property rights or which are progressing towards such protection, are acceptable as submissions. However, the Shooting Star Management shall not be held liable for the protection of any proprietary or confidential information contained in entry form.
  • Shooting Star Management reserves the right to use ‘ Winners’ names, address, entry forms, scripts and any material submitted for the entries in published material, advertising and other public media for the promotion and build-up to the competition, during the Awards ceremony and after the Awards ceremony at no cost beyond the Award given. The participants by submitting the entry form, irrevocably authorize Shooting Star Management to copy, reproduce and publish their entry form and the script if they are selected as the winner and the participants do not have any right to any revenues earned through intellectual property rights generated by Shooting Star, if any.
  • Shooting Star Management will not be liable for any inaccuracy, error or omission contained in any such copy, reproduction or publication of the entry form, other materials submitted.
  • Shooting Star Management reserves the right to, at its reasonable discretion, make, interpret, apply and resolve dispute with respect to or in connection with the Rules of the competition. Entering the competition implies acceptance of these Rules.
  • The Rules are to be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India. All disputes relating to or arising out of the competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction at Delhi, India.
  • If any manipulation (for example, any internet spamming or unsolicited emails, or any other conduct which Shooting Star Management believes is unfair or contrary to the spirit of the competition) has occurred or if the Shooting Star Management considers there has been any attempt to rig the selection procedure, Shooting Star Management reserves the right to discount votes if it has reasonable grounds to believe so and reserves the right to change, cancel or suspend this competition at any time.
  • Shooting Star Management shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage that any person or organization may suffer as a result of participating or attempting to participate in the competition, the competition being withdrawn or its terms amended.
  • Shooting Star Management cannot and shall not be accountable / liable for any disruptions / stoppages / interruptions or cancellation of the competition. Shooting Star Management and its contractors cannot be held responsible for matters out of its control and for force majeure reasons.
  • The participants and winners agree that they shall hold harmless the Shooting Star Management and sponsors, its employees, officers, contractors or other persons and shall defend them against any loss, claim, demands, costs, damages, judgments, expenses or liability arising out of or in connection with any or all claims whether or not groundless, that may be brought against the Shooting Star Management by any third party in connection with participation in or winning the competition.
  • Decision of Shooting Star Management on all matters is final and binding on all participants and no correspondence will be entertained on the same.
  • The Shooting Star Management will not be liable for any claims / disputes made by the participants, or winners in relation to the competition.
  • The Shooting Star Management reserves the right to alter the Rules of this competition or terminate the competition at its own discretion and without prior notice to the participant and without incurring any liability whatsoever.

Q: How do I know you’ve received my script and application?
You’ll receive an email message from us confirming that you have successfully registered.
Q: Can I submit more than one script?
Yes, you can submit a maximum of 3 scripts. Not necessarily as a campaign. All three ideas can be different since we have to choose only one piece of creative.
Q: My script is more than two A4 sheets. Will it be disqualified?
Yes, it will be disqualified.
Q: In which format should the office id and age proof images be uploaded?
Preferably JPEG, any format less than 1MB is accepted. Any entry with an image that cannot be read/has undecipherable information will be disqualified.
Q: Can collaborative teams enter the competition?
No, this competition is only for individuals.
Q: Are adaptations allowed? 
An adaptation of any work is allowed as long as the original material is copyright free. You must have all the rights to your script.
Q: What happens to scripts that are not shortlisted?
PDF scripts submitted online are deleted from our server and will not be used by us for any purpose. The rights of the scripts that are not shortlisted will lie with the respective authors.
Q: Oops! I found some typos in the screenplay I submitted. Can I send you the revised pages?
Please make sure you proofread your script very carefully before you submit it! Once you’ve submitted your entry we cannot accept any rewrites, revisions, or corrected pages under any circumstances.
Q: When will this year’s Winners be announced?
Winners will be announced on February 15th 2013.
Q: Will I receive Jury’s Feedback?
A combined feedback of the jury will be given only to the winning entries.
Q: If I win, who holds the right to my script?
The copyrights of the awarded scripts will be with Yahoo and Flying Saucer. You will not receive any monetary compensation for the script.
